“What ma and pa taught us”
As
you view this quilt in its entirety it is very humbling. It reflects back on
what our parents and grandparents taught us as we were children and those things
they felt were important for us to remember and to pass on. My grandparents on
my mom’s side were both immigrants and spoke of how hard they had to work to
become American citizens and how proud they were when they accomplished that
honor, and to them being an American was an honor. Being an American is still an
honor. My grandparents on my dad’s side were both born and raised here in
America and never took being an American for granted. They spoke of being loyal
to this country as often as they spoke of having love and respect not only for
this country but also for the flag that represents us here at home and abroad.
These memories are the basis of this quilt
